Eleven Months of Quinn Evelyn

I cannot quite believe that in a month’s time Quinn will be a big one year old. I have all the mixed emotions going on already, so I will not be surprised if I am incredibly emotional come her birthday. It feels like such a huge milestone for us both.

Like every other month before this one, it went by in a blink of an eye. The month of December is good like that. It was a big month with work deadlines, both Quinn and I getting sick, resulting in multiple trips to the doctors, Quinn learning to walk, celebrating Quinn’s first Christmas and welcoming in the New Year! It was all go and chaotic but fun and adventurous all at the same time!

The most exciting thing to happen this month was Quinn learning to walk at 10.5 months!! She had been taking a few steps here and there, but she took her first proper continuous steps on Christmas Eve. It was perfect timing as Matt had finished work for the year so was at home to witness it too! She was so excited and pleased with herself, as were we proud.

Christmas was very special this year having little Quinnie to celebrate with. We do Christmas a week early on the ‘Kelly’ side of the family and my uncle dressed up as Santa for all the kids. It was Quinn’s first time sitting on Santa’s knee and her reaction, like many other babies, was priceless. Haha of course it made us all laugh. On Christmas Day itself, it was so lovely waking up in the morning and not having to rush anywhere. It was just the three of us until we made our way to my Mums place for lunch and then Matt’s family came to our place for dinner. Quinn was extremely spoilt!

On the sleeping front, Quinn is now napping twice a day. With it being the holidays, all routine went out the window which was actually a nice thing. Some days she would have a big 2 hour nap in the morning and a smaller nap in the afternoon, or the best days were when she does 2x 1.5hour naps in the morning and the afternoon. No two days are ever the same, so we just roll with it and adapt her nap times to suit our plans. I do love routine, but it is nice to have flexibility especially during the silly season.

Quinn has the funniest little personality! One of my favourite things to do with Quinn at the moment is take her supermarket shopping. She is super social and loves attention. She sits in the supermarket trolly and will wave at anyone who looks in her direction. Or, if they don’t catch her eye straight away, she will wave them down until they do! Quite often, I get chatting to strangers, who ask questions and admire her, which means my supermarket shop always takes me a lot longer then anticipated.

I had a couple of proud mum moments this month when Quinn gained her first and then second certificate. One, her graduation from SPACE and the other graduating from Swimming lessons. Both of which we love. SPACE has been a highlight this year. It has been wonderful connecting to other Mums with babies of a similar age but also for Quinn to have a safe place for her to learn, play and make friends. I really think it has made her a little social butterfly as she is not shy at all. In fact, she is usually the baby that crawls over to the other babies for cuddles, kisses or a friendly hair pull! Eek! Quinn also loves swimming. She is not fazed by getting water on her head or getting dunked under. The water in the pool is also super warm so its like one big bath. We cannot wait to start again next year!

It has been a wonderful start to the Summer months creating so many special memories. As the weather starts heating up we will no doubt find ourselves spending plenty more time at the beach or in her paddling pool.

Happy 11 months Q! We love you!
